We are happy to share that Alex Reinhart has joined Pillar VC as an Associate.
We met Alex Reinhart at a co-founder matching event we held in NYC. Among the crowd of 50 she was immediately noticeable – radiating energy, enthusiasm and curiosity.
As we came to know Alex, we knew she’d be an amazing addition to our team.
Alex grew up in a bilingual household in Austin, Texas, and followed in the footsteps of her father, who was an engineer. Alex earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
While a student, she conducted research for Hugh Herr at the MIT Media lab, building neurally controlled robotic prosthetics. Alex COOP’d at Apple for two semesters and later accepted a role at the company. She worked on sensor driven AppleWatch software features, including temperature based Ovulation Detection. This feature became the centerpiece of much discussion; it was released at the time of Rowe V. Wade’s reversal, making the privacy of this data of utmost importance.
As she and her classmates navigated the complexities of graduating during COVID, she knew wanted to help shape her class’ graduation experience, and did so as the Alumni Class President. Alex continues to shape alumni experiences sitting on the board of directors of the MIT club of New York. She is a natural leader, and enjoyed the chance to use her voice to advocate for her peers.
After Apple, Alex worked at Bridgewater and took a run at starting an AI legal tech company. She’s traveled the founder path, and is determined, empathetic, curious, and whip smart – exemplifying the three core values we celebrate at Pillar: Win Together, Operate with Heart, and Evolve Continuously.
Alex is participating in her first IRONMAN this month – following in the footsteps of her aunt, who was #1 in the world for her age group.
At Pillar, she will work on the investing team, helping source, evaluate, make and manage deep tech investments, both in Boston and in NYC.
