Who We Are

Pillar VC is an early-stage venture capital firm based in Boston with $350 million under management.

Pillar invests across three domains: frontier software, crypto/web3, and biotech. Half of our portfolio companies are spinouts from the university ecosystem.

Since Pillar’s inception in 2016, we’ve backed 7 unicorn companies. Today, we’re proud investors in companies like PathAI, Circle, Hometap, Jellyfish, and Sofar Sounds.

Beyond capital, our team brings deep operating experience to the table. We provide guidance from over 40 CEOs who are the co-founders of our firm and who have built foundational companies including Wayfair, DraftKings, Ginkgo Bioworks, PillPack, and TripAdvisor.

What You'll Do

  • Source: Find and evaluate the next disruptive founders and startups on your campus and beyond.
  • Due Diligence: Together with our investing team, you’ll discuss the companies you identify and will join the Pillar team throughout the entire diligence process.
  • Brand Ambassador: You’ll be Pillar’s representative at your university, hosting events and spreading the word so Pillar is top of mind for founders in the university ecosystem.
  • Market Research: Identify an area of investment research that you’re passionate about and help the Pillar team map out the space. Write blog posts that demonstrate your expertise in a certain market.

Venture Associates will meet weekly as a team with Pillar investors, and as-needed during fast-moving investments.
