We’re focused on pre-seed and seed stage investments.

We make investments as small as $50k and as large as $4M, typically in pre-seed and seed-stage rounds that range in size from $50k – $10M.

It is never too early — we really enjoy brainstorming with founders early in the process, and are happy to connect you with team members or other resources that could help accelerate your idea.

We invest in founders with blow-through-walls resilience, deep curiosity, and the ability to create momentum — attracting talent, advisors and customers to your company. The companies we invest in are also often solving challenging problems in large markets.

Our investment approach is built to move quickly; we’re able to make decisions within days or weeks as needed. While each investment is unique, we typically follow a version of this process:

Intro -> Second meeting -> Diligence -> Partnership Pitch -> Final Decision

No; sometimes we serve in board seats, sometimes we are observers, and sometimes we are not involved at the board level at all. We’re happy to work with you to find the right structure.

We often lead our investments but are also happy to invest alongside like-minded investors.

Every investment is unique; we have a team dedicated to helping founders with everything from talent recruitment to CEO coaching to PR. Learn more about our founder support here.

Every seed stage company will have the opportunity to work through the Pillar Series A playbook. This includes everything from timeline calibration, story creation, deck construction, graphic design, feedback from sector experts, practice pitch sessions, investor introductions, and term sheet counsel.

We are a generalist fund that has the ability to flex across multiple sectors; we are particularly focused on biotech, crypto, deep enterprise SaaS and university spinouts.

Pillar is headquartered in Boston, MA and invests globally.
