Who We Are

Pillar VC is a venture capital firm based in Boston investing in companies at formation and seed stage with $150 million under management. Beyond capital, the team offers its deep operating experience plus active support from 22 CEOs who are the co-founders of our firm and have built unicorn startups like Wayfair, Gingko Bioworks, Demandware, and DraftKings.

We back innovative founders across all sectors, taking particular interest in Boston’s world-class universities and vibrant start-up community. We’re the first capital in for founders building the next-generation of pillar companies in our region, and we’re proud investors in companies like Algorand, PillPack, Desktop Metal, Hometap, Jellyfish, Zapata, Higharc, and Asimov.

Pillar believes the closer we align our incentives with those of the founders, the better we can build trust, and from that, achieve profound results. That’s why we frequently offer to buy Common stock, the same type of stock the founder owns.

Pillar’s platform team is committed to building the start-up ecosystem and to helping founders grow as leaders. We host frequent events and workshops, recruit talent, and offer coaching to help accelerate the growth of our portfolio; and our Petri program offers expert guidance to engineering-led biology companies.
